PedidosYa
Latin America's home-grown delivery app β the most used in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and several Central American and Caribbean countries.
What PedidosYa is
PedidosYa is a delivery app founded in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 2009 and now part of the Delivery Hero group. It delivers restaurant food, supermarket groceries and pharmacy items across much of Spanish-speaking Latin America. In several countries, including Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Panama, Guatemala, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic, it is the most-used delivery app, ahead of Rappi and Uber Eats.
What it does for travelers

- βGroceries from its own PedidosYa Market and from local supermarket chains
- βPharmacy, convenience-store and pet-supply orders in the same app
- βPay by credit or debit card, cash, or a digital wallet

Good to know
- It operates only in Latin America, in roughly 15 countries, and not in Brazil or Mexico
- You need an account, a phone number and a data connection to order
- Cash on delivery is listed as a payment option, which helps if a foreign card is declined
- Restaurant menus and product names are usually in Spanish even with the app set to English
Travel tips
- Drop the map pin on your exact entrance and add apartment or hotel details, since street numbering can be ambiguous
- Keep small bills if you pay cash; couriers often cannot change large notes
- PedidosYa Market is handy for water, snacks and toiletries when you arrive late
- In Peru, Ecuador and Argentina, Rappi is the main alternative if a restaurant is not listed
